- 3D COMPANIONS - The DEE : README
- **************************************************
-
-
- ACKNOWLEDGMENTS.
-
- May I thank Dick Moger, Barry Applegate, Martin Hulse for their valuable contributions to the original production
- of the DEE and the Book.
-
- I thank also Frank & May Norton for the contribution made in the video within this package.
-
-
- USING THE DISK FOR THE FIRST TIME:
-
- When using the DEE 3D companion disk for the first time you must be connected to the Internet.
- This is because a small piece of software known as a "plugin" is required to view the 3D models.
-
- This Latest plugin should download automatically when you try to open any one of the 3D drawings. e.g Engine
-
- Please have patience, as the download can take several minutes if your internet connection is not broadband.
- It may be necessary to disable antivirus software to allow the "Active X" connect of the download to be completed.
- Enable your antivirus software afterward before using the internet again.
-
- Once the plugin has been installed you can disconnect from the internet if you wish.
- An Internet connection will no longer be required to use the program in future.
-
-
- CD-ROM Autoplay:
-
- If, when the CD-ROM is inserted, the main command page does not load, it is likely that the CD-ROM
- autoplay function within your windows system is not enabled.
- If this is the case then you can start the program manually.
- Use windows explorer to navigate to the DEE CD-ROM in your CD drive and select the MENU.html file.
-
-
- USERS WITHOUT A FAST INTERNET CONNECTION:
-
- If you are using a computer without an Internet connection or with a slow connection, you can still view the drawings,
- however this has to be done outside of the main menu page.
-
- When the program file runs initially, you will be presented with the 3D MENU page.
- Close this page with the Red & White Close cross in the upper right hand corner of the screen.
- Using the windows explorer navigate to your CD-ROM drive and select the folder called eDrawings.
- Within this folder are stand-alone versions of each drawing. The standalone versions of the drawings
- have the plugin information required to view them incorporated within them and therefore does not
- require any connection to the internet. They will self load and display the selected file.
- Repeat for the other files in this file when you wish to view them.
-
-
- VIEWING VIDEO & STILLS:
-
- The video of Frank Norton's "D" class model can be viewed at both large and small screen sizes.
- The optimum viewing size is large screen, however the small screen size is provided for users that experience
- intermittent video due to a slow system or CD-ROM reader. If you are still experiencing such problems, you can
- copy the .AVI files from the CD-ROM onto your hard drive. This should increase video playback stability.
- Similiarly with the Slide show. All the Photos of the detail are included on the disk with a seperate "Photo file"
- that will enable individual pictures to be viewed and printed out via the media player with your operating system.
-
- If you have any problems Email them to :- francis.leach@ntlworld.com
